Health Requirements

Please NOTE: REDUCED HEALTH REQUIREMENTS SINCE 2009 - NO BLOOD TESTING FROM FREE STATES-SEE BELOW-

All animals entering the fairgrounds and/or State of Kentucky need to have a 30 day certificate of veterinarian inspection. As of August, 2009, Permit numbers are only required when an lama is being sold or if you are transporting from a none free state. Your veterinarian can call the Kentucky State Veterinary Office at 502-564-3956. Your veterinarian is also advised to visit the website at http://www/kyagr.com/statevet/ http://www.northamericanllama-alpacashow.com/http:/www/kyagr.com/statevet/index.htm or inquire when calling for a permit number to insure that no changes in requirements have occurred.

Also required is a means of identification. The acceptable ID's are:
1.Microchip (bring your own microchip reader) OR
2.Ear tag OR
3.Picture of each animal - single picture of each animal front and side view in same picture OR
4.Description on the certificate of veterinarian inspection listing the animal's name, sex age and color. (if camelid not microchiped, this would be the most productive and easy way to provide identification)

These requirements apply to camelids coming from Free states. Minnesota, parts of Michigan and parts of New Mexico have additional requirements. Contact the Kentucky State Veterinary Office.

All camelids are checked by the State Veterinary Office upon arrival and will not be allowed to unload if you don't have a 30 day CVI and one of the allowable means of identification stated above if from Free State.

Any llama or alpaca showing signs of any infectious or communicable diseases are not eligible for entry.

PLEASE NOTE:
State Vet inspection required prior to stalling. Before unloading, please bring health papers to vet table registration.

DO NOT UNLOAD AND STALL YOUR ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE STATE VET.
